We woke relatively jet lag free this morning and packed up to get ready to embark on our 9 night voyage through the Baltic Sea.
We had some free time in the morning and went to visit the Rosenberg Slot AKA palace which also houses the Danish Crown Jewels from the 17th century. The palace housed four of the Danish kings (some Christians, Fredericks, and Christian Fredericks) and had lots of very old tapestries, furniture and art that were in incredible shape.
The Danish Crown Jewels were not half bad either - Fiona was tempted to steal the big crown, but alas she decided to leave them alone and avoid Danish jail (per Margo).
We caught the bus to the ship which was much cheaper than a taxi by about $50 USD. The bus dropped us off and we thought have about 200m to walk. One problem, there was a lot of construction about the port and we ended up walking a whole lot further around the fence to finally check in. We arrived during the rush hour of check in but thank goodness for latitudes and we were in a shorter line.
Our room is on the 5th floor with a nice big window to the see the ocean. We explored the ship and found the Biergarten on the 14th deck - I think we will be spending quite a lot of time here in the future. We got back from the lifeboat drill to a nice surprise of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries compliments of Svein (thank you very much!!) We greatly enjoyed that before going to Ginza (Asian for dinner) where we had to fight the crowds for some food. We were one of two tables at the restaurant.
We are porked out and ready for bed - off to Germany tomorrow!
